Quakes Epicenter also had the privilege to catch up with Eric Santiago (SaintTaco707 on Twitter), a die-hard Quakes supporter since the year of the Goonies, to hear about his experiences and outlooks on the club he dearly loves.
QE: How long have you been supporting the Quakes for?
Eric: I have been supporting this special club since the start of 2012.
QE: What has been your favorite moment at Avaya?
ES:My favorite moment at Avaya has got to be Decision Day last season. I have never felt so many emotions as I did in those last 10 minutes of that game! I just went crazy when Ureña scored that goal to get us into playoffs! I was hugging fellow fans I didn’t know it was just awesome! Top moment for me at Avaya.
QE: What made you a fan of the club?
ES: I became a fan of the club when I was watching the Quakes on TV at the start of 2012. Then I went to my 1st Quakes/Soccer game live on Sept. 29 2012 vs FC Dallas and how that game went with Lenny’s equalizer in the dying minutes and how the crowd went crazy was how I became a fan! Also, how the Quakes front office staff welcomed me and Brenda — not just as fans but as family members to the club — is what sold it for me and since then we’ve been hardcore fans.
QE: If the club could sign any player who would you want them to bring?
ES: Chicharito because I always like how he plays and has always been a player who respects the fans.
QE: What is one thing you would change about the club if you were in charge?
ES: I think one thing I would change (more like add) would be promote the club more here in the North Bay where I live. There is so many soccer fans and players up here and if the club would bring more exposure here, I feel like we would have more fans from the North Bay.
QE: What is one thing you would conserve if you were in charge of the club?
ES: Keep the family environment that this club already has from players to supporters/fans to front office. Every time I walk into Avaya I feel like I walk into my family home and that is something I would never want to go away.
QE: What’s your message to Earthquakes supporters?
ES: My message to my Quakes family is to be positive, never lose hope on this special club, and always support them through thick and thin because there is no other club like this one! And like always GO QUAKES!!!
I feel the same way. I feel like part of an 18,000 +
family. Go Quakes 🙂
Agreed!
