Player Ratings: FC Dallas 0, San Jose Earthquakes 1

Team — 6.0

Dallas will certainly feel hard done, as they dominated the possession and had many more chances than the Quakes. But they could not convert their chances, and San Jose was given a moment of magic by Jahmir Hyka to take home their second road win of the year.

Bingham — 6.8

He had two nervy moments where he was caught scrambling in no man’s land, and both times perhaps FCD should have converted. But these were overwritten by two moments of bravery and quickness of his line to smother clear Dallas chances, and he produced two good saves as well.

Cato — 5.7

Mostly good defensively and a threat going forward. Quakes fans should hope the battle between him and Lima for the right back spot continues throughout the season.

Jungwirth — 6.8

A really strong match from the German. He makes what seem to be very risky defensive plays at crucial moments, but he did not get a single one wrong today.

Bernardez — 5.6

Played in the shadow of this center back partner Jungwirth until the final 20 minutes, when FCD started to play more direct. At that point, the big Honduran dominated.

Lima — 5.5

His first start at left back, and he was clearly a bit less comfortable. Good going forward, but faded late on with defensive mistakes.

Hyka — 6.9, MOTM

On the whole, he played okay. But that moment of magic is what he is here for, and it was the difference.

Alashe — 5.4

Not bad overall, aside from one terrible giveaway that required Bingham to be sharp off his line to prevent a goal. But he did nto show anything that would displace Anibal Godoy from the regular starting XI.

Ceren — 6.1

When the Quakes could keep possession, they could rely on Ceren to keep the ball moving and make smart decisions. Out of possession, he covered a lot of ground and broke up the Dallas attack.

Thompson — 5.3

Showed some danger going forward, but he was clearly withdrawn early due to defensive mistakes, including one play where he dribbled dangerously toward his own goal.

Hoesen — 5.7

Up and down all night, with a few great plays mixed with stretches where he struggled to keep possession.

Wondolowski — 5.9

Did a great job making up for Dallas’s extra man in the midfield, although he perhaps should have done better with an early chance on a cross from Cato.

Urena — NA

Did not play well expect for one touch: the assist to Hyka on the goal.

Sarkodie — NA

Brought what was expected defensively and helped kill the game.

Godoy — NA

Not much time to contribute anything as a late sub.
