Player Ratings: Sporting Kansas City 2, San Jose Earthquakes 1

Bingham — 4.0

His worst performance in a Quakes shirt? Probably. Dawdling on the ball almost cost the Quakes a goal, and his gift on SKC’s second is unacceptable for a Sunday league.

Francis — 4.9

A woeful performance from the left back. Gerso had his way with him most of the game, and could not deal with SKC’s press in the first half.

Jungwirth — 7.7, MOTM

One of the few bright spots on the day for the Quakes, even though it was because he was forced to do a good deal of last ditch defending. More than a few times he threw his hands up after a play seemingly to question where his teammates were. However, he did get away with what should have been a penalty in the 2nd minute.

Bernardez — 5.6

Struggled to cope with SKC’s first half press, and stepped too high more than once to give away chances. More composed in the second half.

Lima — 5.9

With SKC dominating possession in the first half, he was exposed as a rookie. He was caught forward unnecessarily at times, and lost Sinovic badly in a play SKC should have converted into a goal. He did settle down and looked far more comfortable when the Quakes could see more of the ball.

Dawkins — 6.3

His best performance of the season, but was let down by the performance from Francis. Had the Quakes only real chance in the first half.

Alashe — 5.7

Chased shadows in the first half, but far more gritty in the second half to give the Quakes a chance. Was partially at fault for Feilhaber’s opener by being a bit slow to close down.

Godoy — 5.7

Like his midfield partner, was unable to break the SKC press in the opening half, and helped the team get more control in the second 45.

Hyka — 5.3

Completely anonymous in his first start. Seemed unable to do the defensive work required of him, and Graham Zusi had him in his pocket from the opening minute until he was forced to try switching flanks with Dawkins.

Urena — 5.1

His touch was off, and maybe should have been sent off for a foolish scissor tackle.

Wondolowski — 5.9

Perhaps most useful to the team on the defensive side of the ball, he could hardly get a sniff at goal.

Salinas — NA

A clear improvement to Hyka on the wing.

Hoesen — NA

A bigger target than Urena, and deflected the ball to Jungwirth on the goal.

Thompson — NA

Did not have much chance to make his mark on the game, but did head it down well to Dawkins in the Quakes’ best chance for an equalizer.
