8/22 Regular Season DC United 0-2 SJ Earthquakes Player Ratings
The Quakes won their third straight match for the first time this season, picking up a 2-0 victory at league-leading DC United. Full highlights available here.
Bingham – 7 – Not always confident when coming for the ball, but was asked do so an awful lot and made several key saves to preserve the clean sheet.
Wynne – 5 – Allowed several dangerous crosses when losing track of runner, at least one of which should have been converted.
Bernardez – 7 – An absolute foul machine, and it is a mystery how he escaped the game without a yellow card. However, he often dispossessed DC attackers and allowed the Quakes to get back on the ball.
Goodson – 7 – Calm and assured at the back, as we’ve come to expect.
Francis – 5 – Did not cross the ball well today, although one off-target ball was spilled by the keeper and led to the opening goal. Caught out of position defensively too many times.
Godoy – 6 – Disrupted the DCU attack very well, although he did give away a few needless fouls and was dangerously close to conceding a penalty. Booked late in the game, although the foul did not seem caution-worthy in the context of the way referee Alan Kelly had been calling the game.
Alashe – 5 – Not a great day from the rookie. His distribution was mixed, and his efforts to support the attack led often him to be out of position defensively.
Cato – 6 – The pace and work rate were spot on, but he too often got into dead ends or ran out of ideas.
Salinas – 8 – Seemingly brimming with confidence as he dribbled neatly up and down the left flank. Finished well with a softly placed shot for his goal.
Amarikwa – 8 – Didn’t come away with a goal, but had an excellent game. Showed terrific hold up play with the ball at his feet, was able to turn and run at the defense on multiple occasions, and wreaked havoc on the DCU back line.
Wondolowski – 7 – Produced an excellent finish to get the Quakes off to a flying start to the match, and characteristically covered miles of ground for the team. Was more quiet later in the game as he dropped deeper to help defend, but made the clearance on multiple corners.
Pelosi – 5 – Struggled after coming on for Alashe in the 67th minute. Gave the ball away very cheaply in the defensive third, forcing a huge save from Bingham.
Nyassi – N/A – Entered for Salinas in the 81st minute.
Jahn – N/A – Came on for Amarikwa in the 89th minute.
