San Jose Notes and Injuries

Form — L-L-L-D-L (26 points, 9th place in Western Conference)

  • Last Week — The Quakes remained winless since June as they fell 2-1 at Houston. The Quakes were reduced to 10 men after Fatai Alashe picked up his second yellow card in the 60th minute, but nearly pulled out a draw after Quincy Amarikwa equalized in the 70th minute. The hope was short lived, however, as Dynamo midfielder Alex scored the eventual winner just six minutes later.

  • Innocent and Steven Lenhart remain on the long-term injury list, and neither Clarence Goodson nor Matías Pérez García played last week due to injury. It is unclear if either will be available for selection on Friday. If not, the Quakes will once again have to take the field without four of their eight highest paid players.

  • New signing Anibal Godoy should be available to make his debut.

  • Fatai Alashe will miss the match due to suspension following his red card against Houston.

Colorado Rapids Notes and Injuries

Form — W-W-W-L-L (24 points, 10th place in Western Conference)

  • Last Week — The Rapids squandered a one-goal lead as Kei Kamara continued his blistering form with a second half brace, and the Columbus Crew came away victorious in a 2-1 game at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Bobby Burling had given Colorado the lead late in the opening period off a set piece, but the Rapids could not hang on and dropped their second straight match.

  • The Rapids will be without Lucas Pittinari, Luis Solignac, and James Riley due to injury.

  • Axel Sjoberg picked up a second yellow in the closing stages of the match against Columbus and is suspended for Friday’s match.

Predicted Starting Lineup

Marc Pelosi did not have the easiest time in his first MLS start last week, and Tommy Thompson may get the start ahead of him should MPG still be hampered by injury. Alashe’s spot will most likely be taken by Godoy or Jean-Baptiste Pierazzi, depending on if the former is deemed ready for a start as his MLS debut. Finally, should Goodson be unable to play again, the back line will likely be the same as last week, with Jordan Stewart deputizing at center back and Shaun Francis in the left back

Actual Starting Lineup

Odds — Colorado +268, SJ -102, Draw +229

Bay Area Television Coverage — UniMas

  • Despite the loss last week, the Quakes moved up a spot to 17th in mlssoccer.com’s power rankings.

  • The Rapids returned to the bottom of the power rankings table after dropping their match against Columbus at home.

  • The Quakes will hope to improve their shocking form, having taken just one point from their last five matches. San Jose has scored only four goals in that time while allowing 2.4 goals per game.

  • Despite being bottom of the Western Conference standings, the Rapids have taken 60 percent of the points in their previous five matches, scoring 1.6 goals per game and allowing 1.4 per game.
