Former Liverpool Man Marc Pelosi to train with San Jose
Marc Pelosi, the talented young midfielder from Liverpool, is rumored to have started a training stint with the San Jose Earthquakes. He played his whole childhood with the De Anza Force academy, when the Quakes academy wasn’t around. Pelosi, who was a regular with the Liverpool U21s, suffered from a devastating leg injury in the 2013-2014 season that really set his career back.
According to sources, Pelosi “could have signed another year at Liverpool, but he missed home and wanted to get more senior team minutes.” Pelosi will most likely be used as a left midfielder, which is his strongest position, seeing as the team is relatively deep in the central midfielder position. He also preferred playing left back with Liverpool’s Youth teams and with the USYNT. Seeing as the Quakes don’t really have any prospects at the LB position, the signing would make sense for the future as well.
Apart from some setbacks due to injury, Pelosi looks to have a promising career. He has spent time with Fatai Alashe and the US U23s and is a very versatile player that can play as a central midfielder, a left winger, and a left back.
Should the Quakes sign him, Pelosi would be a great addition to the youth core of the team and would also fit in well into the starting XI by moving Shea Salinas to the right wing and Pelosi to the left.
