Earthquakes Appeal for Sherrod’s Red vs. FC Dallas Denied

Sherrod is clearly trying to jump over Dan Kennedy just like his teammate did just seconds before, but as Kennedy gets up, Sherrod clips Kennedy and sees red from referee Baldomero Toledo.

The Earthquakes appealed the red card to rescind the 1 game suspension that Sherrod would receive for the upcoming game against Seattle, but the appeal was denied. As a result, the Quakes will be shorthanded in a big game against Seattle, and will now have only one remaining unsuccessful appeal left this season.

“The panel, consisting of one representative each from the U.S. Soccer Federation, Canadian Soccer Association and Professional Referees Organization (PRO), was not unanimous that Toledo had made a serious and obvious error in the send-off.” –
