6/20 SJ Earthquakes vs. Seattle Sounders Statistical Preview

To find when the Seattle Sounders have are at their best and worse, I took a look at the chalkboard data. To make it more readable, it is broken into three parts: Best Offense, Worst Offense, and Worst Defense. Here is the Best Offense Section.

In sum, the Quakes should limit the influence of Tyrone Mears and Gonzalo Pineda. Additionally, the Quakes should limit the number of touches whomever Seattle plays on the right wing, whether it is Christian Roldan, Marco Pappa, Lamar Neagle, or Andy Rose, as 398 out of the total 718 passes were on the right side (55%). 5 of the 7 times, one of the most influential players was a right winger, Mears appeared 4 times and Pindea appeared 3 times. Finally, San Jose should be careful to limit giveaways in their own half as 4 out of the 7 times the Sounders showed significant pressure high up the field.
